Maura studies the history of law, economic history, and the history of transition from empire to nation-state.  Her dissertation, "Complicated Matters: Commercial Dispute Resolution in Chongqing, 1750-1911," is available for download here.

Maura graduated from the UCLA Department of History in the summer of 2014.

She is currently working on her book manuscript, while in residence at Harvard University as an An Wang postdoctoral fellow in the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies.
